Professional background
David joined BlackRock in 1993 after graduating from Harvard College. As an account manager, he worked with insurance companies and pension clients on asset/liability management, developing an understanding of how investments must reflect future obligations, liquidity needs and risk constraints. He held the title of Executive Director.
His career also included private equity investing at Jacobson Partners, where he developed his experience in fundamental business and credit analysis.
At Morgan Stanley, David traded single-name credit default swaps and credit default swap indices (CDX). He later served on the portfolio management team responsible for the firm’s corporate loan portfolio exposure, managing approximately $90 billion of gross notional credit exposure. The work combined fundamental credit analysis, hedging and institutional portfolio risk management.
He subsequently returned to Dallas to manage his family’s capital and co-founded Roosevelt Capital Management with Michael O’Brien.
He serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Executive Committee of The Hockaday School, and previously chaired its Investment Committee. These responsibilities bring firsthand experience of institutional governance and investment oversight to his work with clients.
